MKCC Councillors stand for picture

This Friday (25th November) Milton Keynes Conservative Group, along with Progressive Alliance colleagues, will mark White Ribbon Day, an opportunity for all to unite towards ending violence against women and girls. This year, the campaign is #TheGoal, a focus on raising awareness of the challenges- and dangers- women and girls face in traditionally male-dominated environments such as football contexts.

Group Leader Cllr David Hopkins spoke at this week’s Full Council stating that ‘… all of Milton Keynes City Council must work towards one common cause- that all men can be allies in ensuring that all women and girls can live their lives without the fear of violence. We must never excuse or remain silent about men’s violence towards women’.

Group Leader Cllr Hopkins, and his colleagues, welcome the commitment and range of initiatives announced by Matthew Barber, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley, to improve the safety of women and girls in the borough. Cllr Hopkins looks forward to working with the Police and Crime Commissioner, and all partner organisations, on raising awareness and progressing towards making our streets safer for all women and girls.

Following #AskHerToStand day earlier this week, it has never been more prudent to rid our communities of such violence and support women and girls in our communities. Milton Keynes Conservative Group are proud to unequivocally support and stand beside our Progressive Alliance colleagues and partner organisations in raising awareness of this important campaign.
