A group of sixth form students on work placements with Milton Keynes City Council were given a unique behind-the-scenes look at how public safety is managed across the city, thanks to a visit organised by Councillor Shazna Muzammil in partnership with Thames Valley Police.
The visit to the CCTV and control room at Milton Keynes Police Station offered students a valuable opportunity to see how different agencies work together to protect and serve the public. From monitoring live incidents to supporting emergency responses, they saw first-hand the scale and complexity of operations led by the police and local authorities.
Councillor Shazna Muzammil, Group Leader of the Conservative Group on Milton Keynes City Council, said:

During the visit, the students also learned about the role of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), whose remit spans Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire — making Thames Valley the largest police area outside of London’s Metropolitan Police.
The wider work placement programme, supported by council officers, gave students the opportunity to explore the inner workings of local government, meet councillors and staff, and see how services are planned and delivered.
