For almost 60 years, our famous grid road network has helped keep the city moving, supported economic growth, reduced congestion and contributed to the quality of life many residents value today.
That is why the current consultation on proposed speed reductions on sections of the grid road network has generated such strong views from residents across Milton Keynes.
Nobody is arguing against road safety. Safety must always come first.
But many residents are asking important questions:
Have all alternative safety measures been considered?
What impact will these changes have on journey times and traffic flow?
Could slower grid roads increase rat-running through residential streets?
Should issues such as potholes, drainage, road markings, visibility and street lighting also be part of the conversation?
As Conservatives, we believe residents deserve to be heard and that decisions of this significance should be evidence-led, transparent and informed by local people.
Thank you to everyone who has engaged in the debate so far. Whether you support these proposals or oppose them, please take the time to respond to the consultation and make your views known. deadline is the 11th June so not long to go.
