Milton Keynes 11th August 2026: Conservative Councillor Keith McLean was presented with a commemorative statuette by Louise Harrison, Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, recognising his contribution during eight years as a member of the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority.
The presentation took place at Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters in the presence of senior officers and staff from across the organisation, including the Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Directors of Finance and People, and members of the Democratic Services and Technology teams.
For eight years, Keith has been proud to support the work of one of our most vital emergency services, helping to provide the scrutiny, oversight and support that enables Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service to protect communities across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire. His contribution to the Authority and his longstanding support for those who serve on the frontline and behind the scenes was warmly recognised by colleagues across the Service.
Cllr McLean, who represents Olney and Rural Ward on Milton Keynes City Council, said:
“I was incredibly proud to receive this statuette recognising my eight years serving on the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority. During that time, I have had the privilege of seeing first-hand what makes our Fire and Rescue Service such an outstanding organisation. Behind every emergency response are dedicated operational and support staff whose professionalism and commitment help keep our communities safe every single day. I have learnt a great deal during my time on the Authority and have enormous respect for everyone who serves within it. Although my time on the Fire Authority has come to an end, my support for them will not - nor will my support for all our emergency services providing Milton Keynes with the 24/7 cover and response that we rely upon.”
Cllr Shazna Muzammil, Leader of the Conservative Group on Milton Keynes City Council, said:
“Eight years on our Fire Authority is something Keith should be extremely proud of - and we are incredibly proud of him too. For me personally, Keith has always been someone I could rely on. Whenever there was an incident in Milton Keynes, he made sure we were informed and able to keep our residents updated. He took that responsibility seriously and was a real link between the Fire Service, councillors and the communities we represent. It is wonderful to see his contribution over the past eight years recognised in this way. On behalf of the Conservative Group, I congratulate Keith on this recognition and thank him for the contribution he has made during his eight years on the Authority.”
