Cllr Amanda Marlow calls on MPs to act over poster delivery delays

Milton Keynes 10th August 2026: Cllr Amanda Marlow, Conservative councillor for
Watling Ward, has written to all three of Milton Keynes' constituency MPs urging them to
take urgent action over ongoing postal delivery failures affecting residents across the
city.

The email has been sent to Emily Darlington MP (Milton Keynes Central), Chris Curtis MP
(Milton Keynes North) and Callum Anderson MP (Buckingham and Bletchley), as Watling
Ward is served by two Royal Mail delivery offices across three parliamentary
constituencies.

Residents in Crownhill, whose post is handled by the Kiln Farm Delivery Office, and
Shenley Church End, served by the Dane Road Delivery Office in Bletchley, have
reported going without post for up to ten days before receiving a large backlog of letters
all at once.

Cllr Marlow says the delays are having real consequences for residents, with reports of
missed hospital and GP appointments, delayed benefit and pension correspondence and
bills arriving too late to deal with promptly.

Under Royal Mail's Universal Service Obligation, the company is legally required to
deliver 90% of first-class mail the next working day and 95% of second-class mail within
three working days. Cllr Marlow believes the experiences reported by residents indicate
those standards are not being met locally.

Cllr Marlow said:
"When residents go a week or more without receiving any post, this is no longer a minor
inconvenience. People rely on the postal service for hospital appointments, financial
information and important official correspondence. When those letters don't arrive, the
consequences can be serious.

I've written to all three MPs because this problem affects residents across constituency
boundaries. I want them to work together to raise these concerns directly with Royal Mail
and the Postal Affairs Minister so we can get to the bottom of what's going wrong and,
more importantly, get it fixed."

I'm also going to visit both delivery offices to better understand the challenges they are
facing. If there are genuine operational issues, we need to know what they are. Residents
simply want a reliable postal service that delivers on time.

Cllr Marlow is calling for a coordinated response from Milton Keynes' MPs to press Royal
Mail for urgent improvements at both the Kiln Farm and Dane Road delivery offices. She
says residents deserve confidence that important letters will arrive when they are
expected and that the current level of service cannot be allowed to continue.
